Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan | Established 2003 | Part of International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK)
About the University
International School of Medicine (ISM) was established in 2003. When first started, 13 students were enrolled; today more than 5,000 students study at the college, with 800+ Indian students admitted every year. More than 5,000 doctors have already passed out from ISM and are successfully working in India.
ISM was made a part of the International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK) according to Kyrgyz Republic Government resolution on 5th February 2004. Currently, ISM is a modern university with a comprehensive infrastructure and experienced faculty members who are nationally — and some of them worldwide — recognised specialists in different areas of medical professional health organisations and agencies.
The main emphasis in the creation of ISM was on building a modern, dynamic educational institution that provides high-quality training with a competitive potential in the market of medical education. ISM of the IUK is an official state educational institution with the license of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic for medical education in General Medicine within 5.5 years of study (official license No. #540).
The building of the IUK is one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in Bishkek, located on a central street of the city. In addition to the Bishkek campus, the university has three campuses in Osh, Jalal-Abad (southern Kyrgyzstan), and Karakol (Issyk-Kul region). IUK is a member of the World Association of Universities and Colleges (WAUC), Association of European Universities (EUA), European Association for International Education (EAIE), Global Alliance for Transnational Education (GATE), Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW), and the International Association of Universities under UNESCO.
ISM is recognised by IIME, FAIMER, and ORPHEUS and is enlisted with WDOMS, making it a preferred choice for Indian students seeking MBBS in Kyrgyzstan.

We believe that students deserve the best, and that can be well-reflected through the modern facilities we bring to the table at ISM. With the world rapidly pacing towards advancement, we have adopted a practice-oriented approach as a top priority for our educational process. Over the last 17 years, ISM has traced the status of excellence in medical education — the success of our students in FMGE, USMLE, and other licensing exams is a hallmark of this achievement. We're always happy to welcome you to our School!"
"Medical profession is a great endeavour and we'd like to acknowledge each one of you for having chosen to be in this Noble Profession. ISM creates a homely ambience for students at the university campus by looking after various needs such as providing with Indian food, laundry services and other house-keeping facilities. By taking care of these basic amenities, the institute ensures that students devote all their time to what they are here to accomplish — excellence in the field of medicine! We'd like to invite you to take this magnanimous leap towards a bright future in medicine. Join the ISM family!"
ISM staff members are high-level professionals who take personal responsibility for the quality of their work. We strive to ensure that all employees of the organisation share the principles of the quality management system, are involved in the process of its creation, clearly understand the objectives of their work, see the result, and have an impact on it. Each employee's opinion is important and is taken into account.
The basic mission of ISM is to train highly qualified specialists and conduct scientific research in medicine to provide health services to the people. Training is conducted with the most up-to-date educational technology. The primary goal is to produce highly qualified doctors who will be able to work successfully in any place in the world.
ISM is one of the top higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan with English as the medium of instruction — an official, state educational institution licensed by the Ministry of Education and Science.
Campus Living
ISM has a special provision for food through its mess/canteen, run by ISM Representatives for India. The university's hostel has a canteen where Indian cooks work, giving students the opportunity to enjoy traditional Indian cuisine daily.
Two cooks from India work in the Indian mess — one is a South Indian food specialist while the other excels in North Indian food. The menu includes chapatti, rice, sweets, and much more. Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes are served three times a day.
